Outside of Work

About 20 years ago, I taught myself to quilt using tv shows and instruction books. My first quilt was ... functional. In fact, I still have it and it has held up well. Once I took an in-person course, however, my skills improved dramatically because I learned to be more attentive to details, such as measuring accurately!
Over time, my style has also changed from traditional patterns, to playing with abstract and modern designs and fabrics.

I've also sewn household items such as these placemats using Moda fabric.

My daughter has taken up sport climbing and so I also volunteer my time as a Judge at local competitions. I remain completely in awe of the strength, determination, and flexibility of these young athletes.
